Swietowit11 This is the only album I've ever heard that I would consider "perfect". Riffs for aeons, proggy without getting sterile or wanky, impeccable songwriting, and emotion that grabs hold of your throat and won't let go. Add "The Porter" EP as bonus tracks and this should be a no-brainer purchase. This is one of those metal albums that all who consider themselves music-lovers should hear. Favorite track: Alone I Stand in Fires (Remastered 20th Anniversary Edition).

What a brilliant band. So heavy but also pure and enthralling. I only discovered them with their latest album "Ayam" and going back in time I discovered this other MASTERPIECE by them. Disillusion just becomes better and better with every listen. hatbanger_ollie

A captivating combination of genres – essentially proggy death metal. A seamless 60 minutes full of musical ideas. A little noodly at times, but I enjoy the clean guitar work. Lyrically, it sits somewhere between nihilism and humanism – anti-religion, but more broadly institutional than the typical metal fare. There's a relish to the violence against women imagery in "Slave" which I don't enjoy, but on the whole this album stands up to scrutiny from most directions. Certainly not run of the mill Luke
